Peace Christian Community (initially called Peace Christian Church) was birthed on 21 December 2003, meeting in the Scarborough State School Hall, with a core of around 60 people. Within a few months people from all church backgrounds, ages, and walks of life began to call PCC home. In September 2005 Peace Counselling Centre opened it's doors to provide a Christ-Centred counseling service to the community. For 5 years Peace Counseling Centre was a vibrant expression of our vision, and a wonderful opportunity to reflect the presence of Christ through a healing ministry in the heart of Margate to the Redcliffe Peninsula. Those who served here are now involved in work serving the community of Queensland as far as Hervey Bay, extending the ministry of those within PCC far beyond the peninsula. November 2006 marked another milestone, when the Peninsula Full Gospel Church joined with and became part of PCC. This joining together created a powerful synergy in the Spirit, and we all knew that the Lord had plans beyond what we could see or envisage. In the years that followed, the Lord began to challenge us as a community: our purpose was not to put our effort into church-based programs that keep Christians busy in the life of the Church, but to continually seek the Lord for ways to be serve the community, through which relationships would be built, and thereby opportunities to not only share the Gospel, but also to make disciples in the world. Some of the opportunities that the Lord has opened up for us are shared within our Ministries pages. Early in 2009, PCC Training was formed, as an expression of one of our values, to equip God's people for ministry - to increase peoples' capacity to serve the Lord. PCC Training offers seminars and workshops to the wider church and the wider community. In May 2010, PCC embarked on another phase in her journey, as we began to meet for our Sunday Gatherings at the Worship & Miinstry Centre, that sharing the premises with another Church community. The Lord was challenging us to be a people on the move - a poeple who are not tied down to a building, but rather are committed to releasing more and more resources for shining the light and love of Jesus within the world. All we need is a roof over our heads to gather, worship and be equipped to serve and bear witness to Jesus in the world. Like any other part of the body of Christ, PCC's history is still being written. There is so much more to be done; so much more brokenness in the world that needs to be touched by the love of God in Christ Jesus. Our prayer is that we, along with the rest of the Church within our region and nation will grow as a more and more tangible expression of the body of Jesus Christ, guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit, to fill the world with more and more of the fullness of Jesus. |
